OEM vs. Aftermarket Sharp Camcorder Batteries
OEM batteries have the reputation of costing more money to purchase. Our aftermarket camcorder batteries are not only
well-priced, but are made with high-grade cells to ensure quality and safety. All of our batteries come with a one year
warranty, and meet numerous certification standards, including RoHS, CE, FCC, and UL. Even though our batteries may cost
less than OEM’s, they’ll either meet or exceed OEM specifications.
Sharp Camcorder Battery Specifications
Customers will notice that www.eobattery.com is selling two versions of a battery for only certain camcorder models. These
“higher capacity” versions are represented with an “H” at the end of the battery part number (for example: B-9680H). The
higher capacity version is the same as the standard version, except that this battery has a higher mAh rating (see below
for explanation), meaning it will last longer per full charge.
A battery’s power is rated through three different specifications: “mAh” (milliampere-hour), “W” (wattage), and “V”
(voltage). As noted above with the “higher capacity” version, a higher milliampere-hour or higher wattage will provide a
longer lasting battery. The voltage, however, will likely stay the same (on average, a camcorder battery will have
anywhere from 3.6V to 9.6V).
Besides the three power specifications, you’ll also notice that your battery is made from one of three materials: Ni-Cad
(Nickel Cadmium), Li-Ion (Lithium Ion), or NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride). Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages,
such as longer life spans, reduced maintenance, cheaper cell price, faster charge times, or more overall power. All three
types are proven to be sufficient in use for camcorder batteries.
Sharp Camcorder Charge and Discharge Rates
A fully charged camcorder battery should last a couple of hours. Reaching a full charge, however, may take up to three
hours depending on the size and type of battery; typically, 80% capacity will be reached within the first hour of charging.
Our replacement Sharp camcorder batteries should last an average of 500 discharge / charge cycles, or two to three years.
New technology may produce batteries that last even longer than this, and give out more power per use. Thanks to the
technology we have currently available, battery usage and lifetime has already increased over the past few years.
